Hysteroscopic Surgery

A Hysteroscopy is a procedure used to examine the inside of the uterus (womb).

Hysteroscopic Surgery is carried out using a narrow telescope, called the hysteroscope, which is inserted through the cervix (opening of the womb) into the uterus. The hysteroscope is connected to a light source and camera, which sends images to a monitor so that your gynaecologist is able to see inside the uterus.

Dr Wynn-Williams has extensive experience in performing Hysteroscopic Surgery for conditions that cause heavy menstrual bleeding or affect fertility. These conditions include endometrial polyps, submucosal fibroids, and Asherman’s Syndrome. Abnormal bleeding can also be investigated using Hysteroscopic Surgery. The majority of cases can be performed as Day Stay procedures.
