Telehealth

Dr Michael Wynn-Williams offers telehealth for long distance patients from New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.

For many years while in Australia, Michael used telehealth to see patients that had been referred from other Gynaecologists around Queensland, New South Wales and the Northern Territory.

Once you have had a telehealth consultation, you will generally need to see Dr Wynn-Williams in person in the future to be examined and maybe have surgery. He will normally see you in person the day before surgery and before you return home. Post operative follow-up appointments can also be made by telehealth.

Telehealth Information

Who can be seen by telehealth?

In New Zealand, anyone can be seen by telehealth. Your health insurance company will generally pay for your appointment. A telehealth consultation is the same cost as an in person visit.

What will happen?

Since the Covid-19 crisis, many people have become familiar with using Video Conferencing platforms such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams.

Dr Wynn-Williams uses Microsoft Teams as it is secure and encrypted.

When you make an appointment, you will receive a Microsoft calendar invite that will include information on the date and time of the consultation and a link to the meeting. You can use any computer or your phone for the consultation. It is best to be in a quiet and private environment for the consultation. We advise to use headphones with a microphone. You will need to install the Microsoft Teams app onto your device before your appointment. Make sure you have a good internet connection or 4G phone reception.

As we all know, sometimes the technology just doesn’t work. Don’t worry, Dr Wynn-Williams will ring you and talk you through the issues.

What do I need to provide?

To help Dr Wynn-Williams with preparation for your appointment, Clare will send you a safe & secure webpage link where you can complete your registration details and also upload your GP or Specialist referral letter and information from previous specialists or past treatment history - including consultation notes, correspondence, operation reports and operation photos in colour.

You can use your phone or scanner to make .pdf copies of your documents for uploading into our system.
